Whitewashing the Fireplace
When we bought our house, we loved that it had a real wood burning fireplace! It is the focal point of the living room, but with it's bright red color, it stood out a little too much. After a lot of HGTV and some Pinterest, I figured it out. All we needed to do was whitewash our fireplace.

Fortunately, my friend Bridget came into town and we were able to do this together. She is super creative so we figured it out.
What we needed:
-Dove White Behr Paint from Home Depot
-Paint Mixing Stick
-Bucket
-Old T-shirt
-Lint Free Cloths
I bought a quart of Dove White Behr Paint from Home Depot. We did a mixture of 1 to 3 with water. So took a cup of white paint and mixed it with 3 cups of water. We put the paint onto the fireplace in small increments. We dipped the t-shirt in the paint mixture, put it on the brick in small areas, left it on for about 30 seconds, and then took a lint free cloth to blot off the paint. Overall, this took about an hour, and went very quickly.
Here's the end result!
